Why Some People are 15X More Effective on a Job Search

I was recording the newest version of my free job search training class over the past 4 days and I had a chance to do some very deep thinking with that many hours invested. I had a revelation for why programs like mine and why coaching is so important.

All of my training inside Job Seeker Pro came from strategies I developed during a lifetime of sales that I then applied to 3 job searches over the age of 40. So, I take for granted that experience, I don't know anything different. I may have spent 100 hours and 15 iterations learning ONE strategy which worked for me on a job search.

I had to spend 99 hours and have 14 failures to identify just 1 strategy.

It drives me CRAZY when I see people suffering on a job search after a layoff. I can't believe how people are treated and how I was treated. I just can't. So, in my Job Seeker Pro programs, I focus a lot on the person and on empathy and I TOTALLY forget the discarded 99 hours of failures of what I went through to come up with a strategy. In some ways that's ok - why focus much on what didn't work.

But I had a discovery as I was re-recording my newest training version and that is this: I have to teach job seekers that it is a SERIOUS advantage to find a way to skip those 99 hours of failure and those 14 ideas that don't work to just work on 1 strategy that has a higher likelihood to work. If I fail to properly teach job seekers who are considering my program this massive shortcut their job search may be filled with hundreds of mistakes they could have avoided - and hundreds of mistakes add up to weeks or months of delay. 

The other discovery I made is that professional job search and career coaching provides an advantage because we are often limited by what we can see and what we know - so an outsider can provide a fresh perspective. Also, having a coach means there is support, a sounding board, and accountability.

So, this is the reason some job seekers are 15X more effective- they are skipping 99 hours of mistakes, dropping 14 ideas that don't work, focusing on the 1 idea that works, and getting an outside fresh perspective from coaching.
